Academic advisors work with you to create a challenging academic program to launch your career. You meet with your advisor at least once each semester to plan your course schedule and make sure you are on track to meet your academic and professional goals. Penelope Long, Ph.D.

Penelope Long

Dr. Long has a BA and MA in Communication Theory from the University of North Texas. Her Ph. D. is in Higher Education Administration from ISU. She has been advising and teaching communication majors since 1974. In addition to advising journalism majors, she teaches Intercultural Communication and Nonverbal Communication.

 

Elizabeth Chupp, M.S.

Elizabeth has earned a Bachelor degree focusing on Public Relations and a Master’s degree focusing on Communication Education from ISU. Elizabeth has utilized her Communication degrees in a variety of careers ranging from small and large businesses, non-profit organizations, and the mass media market. Some of her communication work includes: promotions, marketing, event planning, training & development, corporate communications, and teaching. Along with advising, Elizabeth teaches COM 100 and COM 388 in the School of Communication.

Kathren Sammis, M.S.

Communication Minors

Kathren has a Bachelor’s degree in communication with a focus on Communication Studies from Illinois State University as well as a Master’s degree in communication with a focus on interpersonal relationships also from ISU. Both in and out of school, Kathren has worked in non-profit organizations, hospitals and grant-making organizations. In school, her academics focused on interpersonal communication, civic engagement, public relations, training and development, social media and teaching. In addition to advising, Kathren also teaches Com 110.
