Com Week

Com Week is a tradition in the School of Communication which brings both professional and educational development to students of all majors. Lambda Pi Eta

Lambda Pi Eta (LPH) is a National Honor Society, with over 400 active chapters at four-year colleges and universities worldwide. LPH was founded in 1985 at the University of Arkansas. It became affiliated with the National Communication Association (NCA) in 1988 and the association's official undergraduate honor society in July 1995. NCA is one of the primary professional organizations for communication. Speech and Debate
Forensics Union

Illinois State University is home to a nationally recognized forensics team with 10 national team championships and over 80 individual titles in its history. Forensics at Illinois State offers Lincoln-Douglas policy debate as well as individual speaking events competition in interpretation, public speaking, and limited preparation genres. Members of Illinois State Forensics have the opportunity to travel across the nation. Dedicated members of the team are even eligible for partial tuition waivers and special scholarships. The Vidette Online is the online outlet for content written and created by the staff of The Vidette. The Vidette provides ISU students with professional work experience and serves as the university community's daily newspaper. The Vidette is not simply a student newspaper of campus news, but rather a complete morning newspaper covering international, national, state and local news. Analytics and Command Center

Illinois State's School of Communication recently completed construction on a new Social Media Analytics and Command Center (SMACC). The SMACC is a specialized computer lab whose primary goal is to analyze public conversations from social media outlets, popular discussion forums, and major blogs. SMACC researchers use customized software that identifies social media conversations and displays them as dynamic charts, graphs, word clouds, and other visualizations.
