Students need to choose from one of three sequences in the Mass Media major. Students may choose to add courses from the other sequences in to their major as electives.

The Interactive Media sequence in the Mass Media major helps students discover the many facets of how computer and web design have significantly changed the international landscape.
Students interested in visual design elements, computer layout and similar areas often find careers in web design, computer message design consulting, digital photography layout and similar areas.

Management, Promotion, and SalesManagement, Promotion, and Sales
The Management, Promotion, and Sales sequence prepares students to enter the business side of the media industries. This popular sequence recognizes that wanting to work in the media industries is not just for artists and performers, but that people with business skills are needed to manage and operate media entities.
Students are trained in event planning, scheduling, programming, promoting, human resources, regulations, finance, and sales for the electronic media. Opportunities to have hands-on involvement with media management can be experienced through involvement in extra-curricular activity at campus media facilities.
Students are exposed to the creative arts side of the industry and may use elective courses to explore creative options further, but the emphasis is on the 'behind the scenes' work necessary to manage a TV station, cable system, radio station, or similar media entity.
This program introduces students to audio and radio production. Students learn about announcing, audio editing, advertising and commercial design, and radio programming. Students get the opportunity to observe and work in a fully functioning, student-run radio station, WZND, learning all operations involved.
Students interested in careers in the radio or audio industry or who wish to work in corporate media will find the Radio sequence especially informative. Students often complete their course-work with internships at radio stations.

Television Production is the study of and application of principles of good television production, with the possibility to specialize in news, sports, or documentary. The program introduces students to visual and television production. Students learn about studio cameras, electronic and digital editing, broadcast programming, shooting news stories and directing newscasts. Students often complete their course-work with internships at television stations.
TV-10 is the departmental television news service. Students present a live 30 minute news program at noon each Monday through Friday.
