Graduate student association hosts alumni networking event
(3/05/12) The School of Communication Graduate Student Association hosted a networking event for students and alumni on February 10. The event, which was held at ISU’s Chicago office, provided an opportunity for the students to interact with established alumni currently serving on the School of Communication alumni advisory board, as well as with active young alumni.
“Many of the students that attended the luncheon have commented on how beneficial it was to talk one on one with the alumni and get their feedback on best ways to job search, and interview. Also, because of the success of the luncheon the SoC Graduate Student Association hopes this luncheon can become an annual event,” said graduate student, Colette Kuk.
“As a faculty member, it was gratifying to see some of our best School of Communication students of today networking with some of the school’s most successful alums,” said Tom Lamonica, Director of Field Experiences in Professional Communication.
“Colette Kuk and Kelly Howell did an amazing job of arranging a first-class event. Everyone who attended believes this is an event that should happen more often. Having the ISU Chicago Office is a classy and convenient venue for getting alums, students and faculty together,” he added.
