Benefits

ISU PRSSA members are able to use the following benefits to help them prepare for a future career in public relations:

  • Attend the PRSSA National Conferences to learn more about the public relations industry, attend various workshops and PR related events and network with other PRSSA and PRSA members.
  • Access to the all the resources of PRSSA and PRSA at a fraction of the cost of full PRSA members, which can be vital to successful study of and entry into the public relations field.
  • The opportunity to get involved with and help plan, create and execute programs and campaigns from beginning to end in our own student-run public relations firm called PRogessive Image (PRi).
  • Gain writing experience in the Relations Committee by writing the monthly newsletter, writing press releases about chapter events and communicating with PRSSA alumnus.
  • Members involved in the Development Committee have the opportunity to develop their event planning skills through organizing and executing chapter fundraisers as well as PRSSA socials.
  • Get a glimpse of what it is like to work in the PR industry through tours of PR agencies and communication departments in large corporations.
  • Guest speakers scheduled at selected PRSSA meetings share their insights about the workforce and give helpful tips to stay ahead of the competition.
  • Attend PRSA networking dinners to help build up relationships with other PRSSA and PRSA members.

Becoming a Member

Step 1

Join us for any of our regularly scheduled meetings held on Tuesdays at 8 p.m. in Schroeder 130.

Step 2

Obtain a membership form.

Step 3

Pay dues to the Treasurer. The annual dues for the 2012- 2013 school year is $80 for an entire calendar school year. This means if a member pays in the fall, he or she will be a member until the next fall. If a member pays in the spring, he or she will be a member until the next spring.
